General information, not medical advice. Check with a doctor or pelvic health physiotherapist before starting, especially if you are pregnant, recently gave birth or had surgery, have pelvic pain, or have a pacemaker.

The short answer

Elitone for Men is an external electrical stimulation device that the FDA cleared on January 23, 2026 (K253285) to aid early continence recovery in men immediately after prostate surgery. Nothing is inserted: GelPads go on the skin and you do 20-minute sessions at home. It costs $449, or from $38 a month, with 60-day returns.

It is new, and we found no published trial results for it. Ask your surgeon or urologist before you start.

How it works

Elidah says external GelPads deliver a pattern of stimulation that contracts, calms and rests the pelvic floor and bladder, in 20-minute sessions at home. According to Elidah, treatment typically starts 1 to 2 weeks after the catheter is removed. There is no app.

Elidah calls it the only FDA-cleared device indicated to aid early continence recovery. That is the maker's claim; we did not find another device cleared for that use, but we did not search for every possible one.

What the evidence says

The FDA record we read for K253285 contains the clearance letter and the indication, not a study summary, and we found no published trial of Elitone for Men. The research on related approaches after prostate surgery is mixed:

  • A 2015 Cochrane review found no clear benefit from pelvic floor training, with or without biofeedback, in the year after radical prostatectomy.
  • A 2026 review found 13 of 20 trials reported significant improvements with structured, supervised training, and linked an early start to greater benefit.
  • A 2023 meta-analysis could not say whether devices such as stimulation or biofeedback add value to training after prostatectomy (very low certainty evidence).

The Mayo Clinic suggests asking a healthcare professional or pelvic floor physical therapist if you have trouble doing kegels.

Who should not use it

Elidah's list includes an electronic implant such as a pacemaker, active cancer, epilepsy, cognitive dysfunction, complete loss of nerve supply to the pelvic floor, and a doctor-diagnosed history of urinary retention, overflow or extra-urethral incontinence. Because many men have prostate surgery for cancer, ask your urologist whether "active cancer" applies to you.

Cost and returns

  • Price: $449, or from $38 a month.
  • HSA/FSA: eligible, per Elidah.
  • Returns: Elidah offers 60-day returns; its policy says the refund for Elitone for Men covers up to 3 used GelPad packs.
